David Stark

David graduated with a first-class BMus (Hons) degree from the Royal Academy of Music in 2011, studying with Graham Mitchell and Duncan McTier.

David has been Principal Bass of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales since 2013 and has been guest principal of most of the symphony orchestras and chamber orchestras in the UK, including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the John Wilson Orchestra. David is also Associate Principal Bass of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, a position he has held since January 2017.

As a chamber player, David has appeared at many festivals, including Penarth, Dartington and Corbridge Chamber Music Festivals.

David regularly gives masterclasses throughout the UK, and coaches both the National Children's Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

David became an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2018.
