Biography

Ross Brown studied trumpet at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where his professors included James Watson, Howard Snell, Paul Archibald and Robert Farley. Whilst at the Academy he was a member of both the European Union Youth Orchestra and the European Union Baroque Orchestra.

Expertise

Ross regularly performs and records with some of the world’s leading orchestras and ensembles, many as guest-principal trumpet, including The Academy of St Martin in the Fields, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, English Chamber Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, The King’s Consort, La Serenissima, The Hanover Band and The Academy of Ancient Music.

In addition to teaching trumpet and natural trumpet at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Ross is Coordinator of Brass Studies at Wells Cathedral School, and coaches for the National Children’s Orchestra.

Notable Achievements

As principal trumpet with the London Chamber Orchestra, he has appeared as a soloist and has performed and recorded all over Europe, and regularly appears on TV and radio. His largest audience was the live global broadcast of the Royal Wedding of TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in Westminster Abbey in April 2011.

He was honored to be awarded an ARAM for making a significant contribution to the music profession.
