Your first week at the College
Your first week here is about getting to know the campus, resources and opportunities available as you start your studies. By the end of the week, you’ll be ready to dive into your studies with confidence and inspiration.
Getting to know the College
From the moment you arrive at RWCMD, you’ll be immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the College. We know that starting somewhere new can feel overwhelming, so we’ve planned a range of sessions and activities to help you settle in. These will introduce you to essential information, guide you through key processes and, most importantly, give you the chance to meet your fellow students.
Simon Reeves, Head of Learning and Teaching, and our Students’ Union president, Tiggy Blackwell, share their welcome and what you can expect in your first week at RWCMD:
‘Your first week is all about taking ownership of your learning and your role in the College community. We’ve planned sessions to support your transition into higher education, covering wellbeing, collaboration and where to find support.
You’ll also take part in creative projects with students from across music, drama and management. It’s a great way to start your creative journey at the College. We look forward to seeing you!’Simon ReevesHead of Learning and Teaching
‘We’re here to help you settle in, from campus tours to the Freshers’ Fair, where you can explore student societies and casual work opportunities. You'll have a chance to meet your course tutors, fellow students, staff and some of our graduates.
If you're moving into halls, the SU team will be there to meet you to give you goodie bags with information on living in Cardiff, being a student and a few special treats to make you excited to join us.
We will also be hosting a variety of events for all students. There will be something for everyone, from live music nights to chilled-out craft evenings.
We can’t wait to welcome you to RWCMD!'Tiggy BlackwellStudents' Union President
