Work opportunities
We’ve put together some advice if you want to get a part-time job alongside your studies here at the Royal Welsh College.
Think about what job will work for you
Many students have to work to support themselves while studying. It's a good idea to think about what job would allow you to be flexible and be more likely to fit around your studies.
Be realistic about what you can cope with and how much spare time you have. You could consider retail, hospitality, freelance creative work, teaching and outreach, and jobs on campus.
Start your job search early
Job searching is competitive, so apply early and don't be disappointed if it takes you a while to find one. Lots of your fellow students are doing the same thing – across the different Cardiff universities!
If you know you’ll need a part-time job, you could start searching online and making some applications a few weeks before you arrive.
Otherwise, start looking and applying within the first month of getting here.
Tailor your CV
Make sure you have a one-page CV ready to give in or send out.
For part-time work, it's likely your skills and/or experience will be most relevant to the role you're applying for, so put that first.
The education section can go lower down the page.
Include an interests section at the bottom to highlight your personality, and don’t forget your references.
