'Due to the opportunities, I had at the Royal Welsh College, outreach and community music have become a massive part of who I am.
This has led me to engage with several music educational and health charities, working with dementia and cancer patients for example. I use music, especially singing, to engage communities and bring out people's personalities. Seeing the individual journeys participants go on is rewarding to a level I can't describe. It's addictive to see all the smiles and the joy that’s created just from using singing.
These experiences ultimately shaped my career. I never imagined it would be what it is today – it doesn’t feel like work. And that’s solely due to the opportunities I had during my time at the College.
From the moment I stepped into the building I was encouraged to explore beyond my comfort zone. I was never told ‘no, you can't do it’. It was always, 'okay, how can we help you do this’.'
