Young Actors
Young Actors is for young people with a passion for theatre and performance, who want to develop their creativity and drama skills in our weekly classes.
The courses give the opportunity to gain a real insight into drama school and the chance to work in RWCMDs world class facilities. RWCMD Young Actors offer classes in three separate age groups:
Junior Actors (school years 3-6)
Junior Actors take part in creative drama workshops that help develop creativity, confidence and lots of important theatre skills, in a friendly and supportive environment. You will take part in lessons covering the following skills.
- Acting
- Singing
- Backstage
- Performance
Working in small groups with others of a similar age to gain skills and experiences that will be hugely valuable, whatever you want to do in life.
Junior Actors meet during term time on Sundays in Cardiff (at RWCMD) throughout the morning from 9:30am to 1.00pm depending on age.
Classes will also be offered through the medium of Welsh (subject to demand).
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Senior Actors (school years 7-11)
Our Senior Actors take part in performance-based workshops that develop confidence, creativity and important theatre skills.
Students are also introduced to a number of theatre company roles including introductions to backstage, theatre design and devising. Working in small groups with others of a similar age to gain skills and experiences that will be hugely valuable, whatever they want to do in life.
The Senior Actors meet during term time on Sundays in Cardiff (at RWCMD) with classes running throughout the day from 9.30am to 4pm depending on age. We are pleased to be able to offer Young Actors classes through the medium of Welsh (subject to demand).
Class duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Advance Actors (school years 12+)
Our Advance Actors take part in performance-based workshops which give an insight into actor training at RWCMD. Students will study different acting skills throughout the course including:
- improvisation
- acting for screen
- auditon technique
- movement
- text
- singing
- stage combat
Students are introduced to a number of career pathways including backstage, devising and other theatre company roles.
The Advance Actors groups meet during term time on Sundays in Cardiff (at RWCMD) with classes running throughout the day from 9.30am to 4pm depending on age. We are pleased to be able to offer classes through the medium of Welsh (subject to demand).

Fees and financial support
RWCMD Young Drama is committed to giving every young person aged 7-20 with a passion for theatre, the opportunity to benefit from the specialist drama training delivered by RWCMD, regardless of experience or financial means.
Thanks to the generosity of many friends and supporters of the College, all of our students can apply for a means tested bursary which can help pay fees and may cover up to 100% of the total costs. We place great importance on making our courses accessible to all young people who have a genuine interest in theatre, with over 50% of current students receiving financial assistance. We urge you to take advantage of the generous support available.
