Medical and wellbeing support
Looking after yourself is a key part of having an enjoyable and positive student experience.
Register with a doctor
All students at the College are encouraged to register with a local doctor, or general practitioners (GP) surgery in Cardiff as soon you arrive.
It means that if you are taken ill and need to see a doctor, you can do that quickly without having to take the time to go through a registration process.
How do I register with a GP?
Once you have a confirmed address in Cardiff you can register, although most surgeries ask you to attend in person.
Wellbeing support
Caring for your mental health and wellbeing is one of the most important aspects of student life.
Student Support is the College’s own dedicated and specialist team. They provide support and advice and work in partnership with our students to empower you to meet your potential while studying at RWCMD.
The Student Support team have robust relationships with NHS partners. If you need further support throughout your studies, they will be able to guide you through this. An NHS community mental health nurse visits the College once a week.
We have dedicated drop-in support available in the Student Support office during term time, so if you need any support or just want to chat, drop in and say hello.
Counselling
Counselling is available free to every student and provides a safe space in which to discuss any issues or problems you may have and to explore the choices and options available to you.
You can ask Student Services for more information when you get here.
