Antigone (Tiggy) Blackwell

Hi, I'm Antigone Blackwell, but everyone calls me Tiggy.

I represent students and offer support as part of the Students' Union team. I manage the SU team, attend meetings and conferences, and represent the student body in staff meetings. I also lead the SU Executive Committee and am responsible for organising the Union’s social activities.

In my musical career, I'm a Jazz Trombonist and the inaugural recipient of the Anjool Malde Jazz Prize. I graduated with First Class Honours from the BMus (Jazz) course at RWCMD in July 2024.

As an active professional jazz trombone player on the UK music scene, I play a variety of styles for events including festivals, weddings, special occasions, and jazz clubs. I've had the pleasure of playing with several successful bands and artists, including YolanDa Brown, Afro Cluster, The Capital City Jazz Orchestra, and The Navarones. I've also recorded an album and toured Wales and England with the eight-piece jazz band, The Mingus Project.
