Dunia’s professional journey began in London, where she studied with Paul Silverthorneat the Guildhall School of Music and Drama on a full scholarship from the Corporation of London. During that time she collaborated with leading UK orchestras, including participation in the London Symphony Orchestra’s prestigious String Experience Scheme in 1999. After graduating, she continued to refine her artistry under the mentorship of Paul Silverthorne and Andriy Viytovyc
A distinguished violist, Dunia has built an impressive career as both a performer and an educator, inspiring musicians and audiences across Europe. In 2024, Dunia accepted the position of Section Principal Viola with the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff. That same year, she toured Switzerland with the Aurora Orchestra and began collaborating with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. Prior to this, she served as Principal Viola of the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra in Denmark, a role she held from 2018. During her time in Aalborg, she continued to share her passion for teaching as a professor at the Danish Conservatory of Music in Aarhus.
Dunia held the position of Principal Viola of the Málaga Philharmonic 1999 to 2018. While living in Málaga, she founded the Andalusian Viola Society and the Málaga Viola Ensemble, initiatives that brought together teachers and students to promote the viola, foster emerging talent, and strengthen the region’s musical community. Dunia was also a faculty member at the prestigious Reina Sofía School of Music in Madrid for 5 years (2010-15).
