Expertise

Thomas is principal clarinet with Welsh National Opera, and has performed as guest principal with orchestras including the Philharmonia, Royal Opera House, Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, BBC Concert Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Royal Northern Sinfonia. He was a member of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra for seven years, followed by a year as Associate Clarinet with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London.

Projects

And on a completely different note, Thomas plays with Klezmer-ish, a classical / world music fusion quartet. Performances have included repeat visits to The Music Room (Liverpool Philharmonic Hall), Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall and London’s Green Note. The group were featured artists on BBC Radio 3’s ‘World on Three’, and their albums Music of the Travellers and Dusty Road (Riverboat Records) have been described as ‘note perfect’ (Songlines) and ‘a joyous combination of playfulness and precision’ (The Times).
