Musical Theatre
Students on the Musical Theatre Study Abroad Programme will be fully immersed in musical theatre degree training.
Modules
Joining the second year of the Undergraduate Musical Theatre programme at RWCMD, this programme provides 12 weeks of specialist tutoring including skills classes and project rehearsals.
The programme is scheduled to start in September (Autumn term) or January (Spring term) of each academic year.
120 UK credits are allocated across a year of study. The equivalent of 60 UK credits are available to a Study Abroad student who successfully completes a term of study at the College.
During your time here
Students will benefit from a holistic training through a range of practical skills classes each morning, whilst afternoons are dedicated to project rehearsals and exploration.
Skills classes may include:
- Individual singing technique and repertoire sessions
- Group repertoire and singing technique sessions
- Dance & movement classes including ballet, tap & jazz
- Voice, Speech, Text
- Contextual & Professional Studies
- Public performance opportunities at RWCMD
Project work may include:
- Acting for Screen (Autumn Term 5 weeks)
- Acting Through Song (Autumn Term 5 weeks)
- Heightened Text (Spring Term 5 weeks)
- Creative Process – New Writing (Spring Term 5 weeks)
- Each term consists of two projects that will lead to a group sharing of the work.
English language requirements
Applicants who are non-native speakers of English are required to achieve IELTS 7.5 or equivalent, with no lower than 7.0 in listening and speaking and no lower than 6.0 in reading and writing.
Tuition Fees
The tuition fees* for 2024/25 academic year are £8,500 per term
*tuition fees to do not apply to reciprocal exchange arrangements (eg Erasmus + / Taith mobilities)
