How do you encapsulate the essence of the College through music?

On Saturday 25th February 2023 Sir Bryn Terfel CBE, one of the world’s greatest singers, announced a new foundation with the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

We welcomed back Errollyn Wallen, artist in residence and one of our newest Honorary Fellows, last term.

The Carne foyer was well and truly woken up from its lockdown silence on Wednesday 9th September, 2020, when 24 brand new Steinway pianos played gloriously together, celebrating the College becoming the world’s very first Steinway Exclusive Conservatoire.

With breathtaking landscapes and more castles per square mile than anywhere in the world, Wales has always been a favourite with film producers looking for epic outdoor locations.

If you live in Cardiff it’s not unusual to see an ambulance from Holby City Hospital parked down the next road, a Cyberman marching down the high street, or a car park full of dressing room trailers and catering vans.

Three Composition students will have their music performed at BBC NOW’s Composition: Wales 2020 concert tomorrow. The annual event, which showcases Wales’ best composers, features Tayla-Leigh Payne, alongside Jasper Dommett and Luciano Williamson, who have both been chosen to take part in the event in previous years.
