Council Tax and TV Licence
It’s your responsibility to check whether you're covered for Council Tax and a TV Licence so you don’t end up with a fine.
Council Tax
If you’re a student, you don’t need to pay Council Tax, but if you are living in shared accommodation with non-students, the whole household may be liable for Council Tax.
To prove you are exempt from Council Tax, you'll need to notify the Council by providing a confirmation of student status letter, which can be downloaded from the Hub after your registration at RWCMD is confirmed. If you're unsure about your exemption, Student Services can help when you arrive.
TV Licence
You will need a TV Licence – otherwise, you could face a fine. The good news is that if you’re living in halls of residence, then you'll be covered as part of your contract with Unite Students.
If you're in private accommodation, you need to make sure you're covered by your own licence.
There's more information on the TV Licensing website.
