Matthew Bawden

Welsh Tenor Matthew Bawden studied BA Music at Bath Spa University and MMus Music Performance at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he won the 2022 Manning Singing prize for tenors.

Recent engagements include Die Knusperhexe in Hänsel und Gretel (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama), Le Chavalier de la Force in Dialogues of the Carmelites (Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama) and Peter Simple in Sir John in Love (Opera Holland Park with British Youth Opera)

Matthew’s studies are generously supported by a Clive Richards Foundation Scholarship, a Leverhulme Trust Arts Scholarship, and a Sybil Tutton Opera Award.
