Sarah Bennington is a versatile musician and actor.
She held the Sub-Principal Flute position in the Welsh National Opera for 7 years. Prior to that she was Principal 2nd Flute in Scottish Opera, and Principal Flute in Orquestra do Norte, in Portugal. She has worked with numerous other UK orchestras and chamber groups, including the LSO, LPO, BBCNOW, CBSO, RSNO, SCO, and the Berkeley Ensemble. As a soloist Sarah has performed flute concertos by Nielsen, Mozart, CPE Bach, Gunning, as well as the Liebermann Piccolo Concerto. Sarah trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Ian Clarke, Philippa Davies and Sharon Williams.
As an actor, she has had lead roles in the independent films The Testing Point, What’s Wrong Emma, Twelfth Day, The Interrogation, and Run Free For A While, and she features in the full motion video/interactive film The Isle Tide Hotel. She has also starred in numerous other shorts, corporate films, web-series, commercials, and TV series. On stage she has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe with Axon Theatre, and was awarded the Barbara Lake Memorial Award for Best Individual Performance for her role in The Last Nickel with Monocle Theatre Company. Sarah is represented by Delaney Grey Management.
Her work at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama includes teaching Flute and Piccolo, and coaching chamber ensembles. She also leads classes in Stage Presentation & Performance Skills - using her combined knowledge and experience from both the music and acting worlds to encourage authenticity, curiosity and creativity.
