Biography

Venezuelan-German violinist Juan Gonzalez is a member of BBC National Orchestra of Wales.
He was formerly a Member of the BBC Concert Orchestra and prior to that, the Leader of the Jalisco Philharmonic Orchestra in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Juan started his musical education at the Sistema of the Youth Orchestras in Venezuela and was a member of the Venezuelan Symphony Orchestra.

He studied at the Simon Bolívar Conservatoire in Caracas under the guidance of professor Raimondas Butvila.

He works regularly with Leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players, Britten Sinfonia, and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. He has served as guest Co-leader of Britten Sinfonia, Leader of the Chineke! Orchestra at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and at the BBC Proms in 2023. He has also been guest number 4 violin with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in several occasions, guest Leader of the London Choral Sinfonia and also Guest Leader of the London Contemporary Orchestra including Pop, TV and Film sessions at Abbey Road and also Air Studios.

Expertise

As a soloist and chamber musician, Juan has performed all across Europe and the UK, and also many Latin American countries.

As a session player, Juan has recorded numerous TV & Film scores at Abbey Road and Air Studios with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, BBC Concert Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, London Contemporary Orchestra and Isobel Griffiths Ltd.

As a professor and mentor, Juan has given Lessons and Masterclasses in London, Berlin, Venezuela, Mexico, and Guatemala.

Juan is also an accomplished conductor, including Gala concerts with the ‘Carlos Chavez’ National Youth Orchestra in Mexico, the Guadalajara Youth Orchestra, and also the Ontario Philharmonic in Canada.
