Frederick Brown is a British pianist, conductor and répétiteur. Currently on the music staff of Welsh National Opera, he was previously on the staff of the Hamburg Staatsoper and has also worked for Iford Arts Festival and Buxton International Festival.
Born in Cornwall, he trained at the University of Cambridge, the Royal Academy of Music and the National Opera Studio. As an accompanist and chamber musician he has appeared in venues including the Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, St Martin in the Fields and the Royal Albert Hall and his performances have been broadcast on national radio in Britain (BBC Radio 3) and abroad. In September 2016, in duo with baritone Henry Neill, he was a prize winner at the International Vocal Competition in s-Hertogenbosch, Holland.
He made his London conducting debut at St Martin in the Fields in January 2015, directing Twickenham Choral Society with the Brandenburg Sinfonia in Mozart’s Requiem, and in December 2016 conducted the Philharmonia Orchestra and Lunds Studentsångförening in a series of concerts in Klosters, Switzerland, and has conducted the orchestra of Welsh National Opera in recording and concert.
