Dudley Phillips

Dudley Phillips is a self-taught musician working in the areas of jazz, ‘world music’ and contemporary song writing. He later won a scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music

Interesting albums to date include Susheela Raman ‘Ghost Gamelan’ [Guardian and Le Monde Top 10 world music albums of 2018], Yazz Ahmed ‘La Saboteuse’ and ‘Shoal of Souls’, Loreena McKennitt ‘Lost Souls’ [Billboard top 20 album, 2018] and ‘Live at the Albert Hall’, Huw Warren ‘Everything in Between’ and ‘A Barrel Organ far from Home...’, Orphy Robinson ‘When Tomorrow Comes’ and ‘The Vibes Describes’ on Blue Note International and John Parricelli ‘Alba’.

Solo albums include ‘Life without Trousers’ and ‘BASSheARTMANtra’ (“Brilliant. Unique”- Robert Wyatt), Amy Winehouse ‘Will you still love me tomorrow’, Mark Lockheart ‘Moving Air’ and ‘Through Rose Coloured Glasses’, Mark Knopfler ‘Live in Berlin’ (official YouTube channel - 27 million views) and ‘Live in Zurich’ (Sky Arts).

Also, six albums with Perfect Houseplants, including ‘New Folk Songs’ and ‘Snap Clatter’, five albums with June Tabor on Topic/Hannibal Records, including ‘Angel Tiger’ and ‘Against the Streams’, Monica Vasconcelos ‘HIH’, Charlie Wood ‘New Souvenirs’, John Harle/Marc Almond ‘Tyburn Tree’, and Tim Robbins ‘Rogues Gallery Band’.

Touring includes Bill Withers (Two European tours), Billy Cobham (UK tour), Cedar Walton, Tom Scott and John Hendricks (live at Ronnie Scott’s). He has toured the world several times over and played at most major international festivals.

Films include Anja Garbarek (soundtrack for ‘Angela’ [Dir Luc Besson] with Anja Garbarek) and Robert Wyatt (The Robert Wyatt Story).

He jointly won the Jazz FM ‘Live Performance of the year’ in 2018 with Orphy Robinson group.
