David Baxter

David is a freelance arts project manager, producer and consultant. Until recently, David was the General Manager of the Borough Theatre, Abergavenny for Monmouthshire County Council and was previously the Head of Arts Active - the education, community and audience engagement unit at St David’s Hall and the New Theatre, Cardiff for many years.

David led the Borough Theatre through a major capital refurbishment project and developed a mixed programme of professional and community performances and activities. He developed a county wide youth arts programme and development of a visual art cluster. He led the south central Arts and education network as part of Creative Learning through the arts programme. He has worked as a practitioner, producer and manager of community and education arts projects in a variety of contexts and previously worked for Welfare State International, The Royal Court Theatre and the London International Festival of Theatre. He has served on the boards of several community arts organisations and is a graduate of the National Leisure and Culture Forum Leading Learning Programme.
