Join the RWCMD Guitar Amnesty: Give the gift of music to the next generation
Countless guitars gather dust in attics or hang forgotten on walls after the initial enthusiasm fades—whether it’s a teenage hobby or a midlife experiment left behind.
That’s why we’re launching the Guitar Amnesty.
This initiative invites you to donate your unused, unwanted, or unloved guitars to the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD). These instruments will become part of our newly established borrowing library for young people under 18, giving them the chance to discover and nurture their passion for music.
How you can help
If you’ve outgrown your guitar, decided to give up playing or looking to upgrade your guitar, now’s your chance to pass it on to someone who truly needs it. Simply bring your old instrument to RWCMD, where it will be collected, catalogued, and prepared for its new home with a young musician.
Your donation can make a meaningful difference in a budding musician’s life. Let’s turn forgotten instruments into fresh opportunities!
To donate
Guitars should be in good working condition
Come into RWCMD from Monday 27th January to 1 February from 10am to 4pm to drop off your guitar.
