Rachel Podger has been called “the queen of the baroque violin”. And Heinrich Biber was the ultimate maverick of 17th century music – a composer who took a new-fangled instrument called the violin and made it sing, dance, pray and turn somersaults. Today, Podger plays Biber, accompanied by members of her superb, handpicked ensemble Brecon Baroque: Elizabeth Kenny (lute) and Marcin Swiatkiewicz (harpsichord).
