Choro Choro Cymru featuring Maria Pia de Vito & Huw Warren

Tickets: £8-£16

About

Welsh jazz pianist Huw Warren brings the sounds of Rio to Cardiff with his tribute to Choro - the vibrant beating heart of Brazilian music. Emerging in Rio de Janeiro in the late 19th century, Choro is characterised by expressive melodies and samba-style and bossa nova rhythms. For this special performance, Huw will be joined by guest artists, acclaimed jazz vocalist Maria Pia de Vito and Brazilian percussionist Adriano Adewale.

Huw Warren says 'This project is dedicated to the many Brazilian musicians who have welcomed me with open arms and encouraged me to be creative with this incredible music. They have included (in 1980's London) Bosco De Oliveira, the late Ricardo Dos Santos; and more recent encounters with Jovino Santos Neto, Carlos Malta, Roberto Taufic, Chico Buarque, Matheus Prado, Seu Gaio and Adriano Adewale. Obrigado profundo e sincero / Deep and heartfelt thanks'
